Topic “Walk this Way” – Evaluating Slip Resistance. The current state of tribometry.

Speaker Steve High, MPH, MS, CIH, CSP, ARM, EMT, CHST, CXLT is President of High Environmental Health and Safety Consulting Services, Ltd. which he started in 1997. His company provides a wide range of safety, industrial hygiene and indoor air quality services for clients in the Mid-Atlantic region.

Steve has been involved in the Occupational Safety and Health field for over 30 years.  He holds degrees Business Administration (Elizabethtown), Public Health (Johns Hopkins) and Safety Sciences (IUP). His thesis topic was “An Investigation of Sticktion in drag-sled Devices used in the Measurement of Slip-Resistance” while at IUP.

Steve is a member of the American Society of Testing and Materials (ASTM) Committee on Slip-Resistance and he is certified as a XL Tribometrist (CXLT). He has provided slip-resistance testing services for a wide range of clients including manufacturers of flooring materials, floor coatings and various property owners. He provides expert-witness support for legal proceedings, including many slip and fall cases.
